School of the Holy Beast
& Wet Rope Confession
Four our first Double Feature recommendation, let's make it an Asian Nunsploitation night!
If you want to rope in a friend who isn't a fan of the genre, this crazy lineup of Japanese nun naughtiness just might do the trick. For those familiar with nunsploitation films, you will find yourself strangely unprepared for how wild, unrestrained, and unapologetically perverse these movies are!
Start off with Norifumi Suzuki's School of the Holy Beast. It's the better of the two films, with a stronger story, more beautiful women, better acting and thoughtful and artistic camera work.
Each frame is a work of art, but don't let that fool you! Side by side with Maya Takigawa's beauty is the ugliness of the nuns in this twisted convent! This movie is both shocking and delightful. The sharp contrasts of Suzuki's film are both visual and conceptual and they will stay with you for a long time.
Besides being a work of unabated exploitation, School of the Holy Beast is also a work of fine art.
Keep the Asian Nunsploitation kick going by following up with Wet Rope Confession. The story isn't as strong and the directing isn't as artful and the acting not quite as competent. What Wet Rope Confession lacks in beauty, it makes up for in perversity. This one of the most twisted, most outlandish, most outrageous nunsploitation films of the genre. (And that's saying something!).
Even veteran nunsploitation fans will be hard pressed to restrain themselves from dropping their jaws in disbelief and shouting out loud "What the....?!?"
The movie starts off perfectly reasonable, gets a little kinky, gets a little bizarre and then goes straight over the deep end! While not as enriching of an experience as School of the Holy Beast, we'll stake our reputation on the bet that Wet Rope Confession will not fail to entertain! |
