Synopsis: From French fright auteur, Jean Rollin ( Requiem For A Vampire, Grapes Of Death), comes a return to the energetic and surreal gothic style of his early, groundbreaking vampire films.
While looking for the earthly remains of Count Dracula, a Professor and his young assistant are thrown into a surreal parallel universe of darkness and decay where they encounter supernatural creatures, such as a jester, his vampire lover, the scarlet She-Wolf, sorcerers and a sensuous, baby-eating Ogress! Ultimately, the Professor's quest leads to a confrontation with the beautiful Isabelle who is possessed by an unspeakable evil force and has the power to decide his fate!
Review by Bob Ignizio: Isabelle is being held captive by a group of nuns called The Order of the White Virgin. Fated to be the bride of Dracula, her mere presence exerts a powerful influence on her captors. Review: Unfortunately, with this colorful cast of characters, there is very little character development. While I understand that this is not an action film and that the director is trying to paint a picture of romantic, gothic horror, he failed to hold my attention. Read More....
