Synopsis: Flavia rebels against the abusive and repressive nunnery she has been forced to serve and joins an invading army intent on conquering her homeland. She leads them into battle as they rape and murder her fellow conventeers.
Review by Casey Scott: Gianfranco Mingozzi's FLAVIA THE HERETIC has been a much sought-after title amongst fans of the sleazy nunsploitation subgenre and of stone-faced Florinda Bolkan, one of the most underrated actresses of European cinema. Available previously through Redemption in the UK, offering a VHS tape snipped of much of the surprising violence, Synapse Films has rescued the film from obscurity, presenting it in its original uncut version. Whether the film will deliver the goods for fans is a different story....

Review by Pablo Kjolseth: It's not hard to see why Flavia the Heretic gets caught in so many cross-fires; on one hand it's really trying to be a cross-over art-house message picture, and on the other hand it's a lurid exploitation film with incredibly unpleasant and sadistic images. Read More....
