Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood set a new standard for Westerns with films like A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Eastwood, who personified the tough, lone gunman, set a new trend with his 1970 film Two Mules for Sister Sara. The juxtaposition of Eastwood's tough, rugged gunfighter, and Shirley MacLaine's a saintly, but temptingly beautiful nun, proved to be so wildly popular, that a long line of imitators followed, creating a sort of mini-genre of nunsploitation westerns.

Seven Nuns in Kansas City (AKA: Sette Monache a Kansas City; Trouble in Kansas City) (1973) Another Nunsploitation Spaghetti Western Comedy, though admittedly, not as good as They Call Me Hallelujah. While lacking in sexual exploitation, the nuns in this film don't hesitate to hike up their habits and kick some major ass. Two cowboys searching for a hidden gold mine, hide out from Mexican bandits in a convent. The nuns don't take any crap and proceed to kick the living hell out of the bandits. Starring Ignazio Spalla (credited as Pedro Sanchez), Lea Gargano (as the Mother Superior), Enzo Maggio, Enzo Pulcrano Irta D'Angel, and Salvatore Boccaro (credited as Sal Boris). Directed by Marcello Zeani (Credited as "Roy Patterson"). 84 mins. |

Slim & Nun (1995) A charming, witty and damn sexy comedy based heavily on Two Mules for Sister Sara but also drawing inspiration from other westerns like McLintock and The Magnificent Seven. The comic ran in its entirety in nine installments of Penthouse's Mens' Adventure Comix. More info and full review available. |
